Classes

 

Kickboxing

Kickboxing classes are available for all skill levels.

This class is for anyone from novice to the advanced athlete. Warm ups may include jumping rope, shadow boxing, and/or calisthenics, and/or light pad work. Students are then taught the lesson of the day. Lessons focus on proper offensive and defensive technique, integrated combinations, strategy, and structure. Striking, elbows, knees and kicking are done using Thai pads, focus mitts, heavy bags, partner work, and sparring drills.

Typical classes may include

  • Warmup period
  • Defensive drills focused on self preservation, counter-attack, maintaining structure,
  • Striking and kicking drills focusing on proper technique, combinations,
  • Proper footwork
  • Cool down period

Once a student feels comfortable with the basics, we offer safe but competitive sparring classes, allowing you to apply, test, and fine tune what you have learned in Kickboxing class.

 

Krav Maga

Krav Maga classes are available for all skill levels, though it is recommended that beginners participate in some Kickboxing classes to learn basic striking techniques.

Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing and wrestling, along with realistic fight training.

Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks.

Typical classes include

  • Warmup period that might include shadow boxing, calisthenics, and/or some light pad work.
  • Skills training for Krav Maga usually involves two or more drills for specific real world situations.
  • Each drill consists of
    • Threat awareness
    • Identifying the immediate danger
    • Operating under stress
    • Simultaneous defense and counterattack
    • Overcoming obstacles
  • Cool down period for post workout stretching

Warm ups include jumping rope, shadow boxing, and/or calisthenics, after which students are taught the lesson of the day. Lessons focus on defusing real world situations using a combination of defensive and offensive techniques.

 

Sparring

Sparring classes are available for intermediate to advanced level students.

Typical classes include

  • Warmup period that might include shadow boxing, calisthenics, and/or some light pad work.
  • Drills to introduce new techniques
  • Light contact sparring with 12 oz. boxing gloves and shin guards. Trainers monitor offensive and defensive technique, movement, breathing, and provide instruction and feedback.
  • Cool down period for post workout stretching

 

Crossfit

CrossFit Rohnert Park is our in-house fitness and conditioning program.
